Football TeamsThis is a picture of Alness Bridgend Primary school football team on the left and Tarradale on the right in the light coloured strip (early seventies). I would guess the year was 1973 or 1974, but someone on the website maybe more exact.
These Bridgend boys were the last to go on to Invergordon Academy as the next year were the first year to go to the New Alness Academy (the huts).
Four of us in the Bridgend team were from the year below and still got a game and went on to Alness Academy. Tommy Regan was the captain and we won the cup 2 goals to 1. The game was played at Muir of Ord.

Well done Graham, spot on, notice I had the old strip (vee neck) as there were not enough shirts to go around and I was the reserve.
Can't remember all the names, Liz, the blondie was Stevie Ramsey, Alby Lowshaw, Tom Lamont, Brian Hill (American), Cookie the keeper, Tommy Regan, bottom row next to Dougie, ?????Webster, next to Liam was Gregor's brother Graig.
Graham, a neighbour here at Nigg speaks well of you - John Macgillivry (Kenny Dalglish look a like) - said he and a couple of other lads went down to a Hearts game with you.

Hi Tommy, was along time ago. Was in your class from Primary 4. Recognise you and Steven Ramsay. Can hardly remember the others. I played hockey when we went to Invergordon Academy.

Back in the early 1950s a few of us from Invergordon, Sonny Macleod and Alan Brown and myself and others, would walk to Alness and play football there. We will always remember the send-off they always gave us. They would chase and throw stones at us all the way along the railway line. It didn't matter if we won or lost.

Oh Harry, that I find difficult to believe. We were all little gentleman in Alness ??

I still visit Alness if any of that football class wants to get in touch.

Just to add. I don't recall how we knew that there would be a game in Alness. There was no organizing just word of mouth. The Alness players never came to Invergordon we had to go to Alness. We played in a field in the East-end somewhere. Even had goal posts..very rough games, nothing like today..
