King Street, looking northThe present King Street, looking north with the Church spire in the background. On the left is the 'Caley' Bar and just beyond the parked car is the crossroads with Outram Street. See picture #897 for another view further up the street.

Hi Bill, yes and lots of singing, little has changed really, except Scotty Campbells house has been replaced by a new bungalow or has had a face-lift, looks terribly quiet though. I can remember the street being blocked sometimes with commerce, but of course there was more business there then....It would have more appeal if they exposed the cobbles....

I always associate King Street with swarms of sailors fresh off the liberty boats and desperate to get a few drinks in. It looks so quiet and serene here, only the Caley is a reminder of the past. My Grandfather Willie Geddes' cobbler shop was on the right behind the camera.

You put your finger on it Harry! It's the cobbles that are missing and make the street look not quite right in my memory. I think King Street was the only main street fully cobbled although there may have been little bits here and there. Many of the side roads off the High Street were not surfaced at all or just had gravel on top. I think I spent my entire childhood with cut knees from playing football on those surfaces!

Thought I´m not from Invergordon I have some memories of my own on this street. I lived here for a few months and I must say that I really enjoyed it. I´d like to know how things are going - maybe I´ll go there when I´m old. A big cheer for my mate Alec, a hug for the sisters (congratulations for your baby) and cheers for all the people at Caledonian, even for crazy Mardu!!!
