Harry, I have just spotted this shot. I had no idea it was on the site! I have been surprised that more Invergordon FC has not surfaced as the team did very well in the 50s. My dad used to take me into the dressing rooms (hut) after the games and I did not know where to look. I used to be taken off to away games at hot spots like Balintore, Fearn and Tain. Most times I was the only visiting spectator of school age and the local boys always tried to entice me into a fight. I pretended to concentrate on the game! I remember most of this team, at Hogmanay they would end up at our house. Happy days!

Harry, I think there was a rota for washing the strips as my mother did them from time to time - by hand of course, with the washing board to scrub out the mud! Women had it hard in those days, I'm sure my mother never went to a match but still did their washing.......amazing.

Hi Billy, we used to go to Ardgay also? - small place but had a good team...My granny used to wash this team's strip, I recall it hanging on the line. Done by hand in those days using the old mangle...

Came across this picture of my dad Robbie Connell - this brought back many happy memories of my childhood. Has anyone got anymore of these photographs? Would love to see them.

Hi Irene, is your mother's name Christine?
Added by Catherine MacKenzie (nee Clark) on 31 March 2008
Catherine, yes, my mum's name is Christine. Had another look through library but couldn't find any more photos of either mum or dad. However, I will still keep looking as someone may have one in their possession somewhere.

I still have my mother's washboard (glass), it sits in my lobby. It still smells of fairy soap.

My mum had a glas washboard too called a Glass Queen but we used to be envious as next door had a metal one and you could use it like a skiffle band did!

This photo brings back wonderful memories to me.These were all my mates in 1949....1951. Unfortunately I had to return to my native Weymouth due to lack of employment. Best of luck to lnvergordon F C ,this season . (Nigel)
