South Lodge Primary

I was in south lodge primary in '77 to '80. I have one class photo from that time and it is in pretty good nick for its age. I moved to South Africa in 1980 and have been back twice.
I am 4th from left in the middle row. Other people I remember are Ewen Young, 3rd from left in front, James Guild, last on right in front row.

This was my primary class! Am delighted to see the photo as I do not have a copy of it.
I am Mhairi MacLeod and am 4th from right, middle row. 5th from right is Michelle Molloy and 3rd from right is Nicola Gray. So far, I can also make out Julie Horsborough, 1st top right and 3rd top right is Angela Campbell.
I think 3rd from left in the front is Alan Ross. Ewen Young was in the same class but will have to keep studying picture to see which one he is.
Lovely to see the photo!

Wahey! I haven't seen this picture in years!
Sorry, keep studying because I'm not in that picture (I'm Ewen - been living in Edinburgh for the last 8 years but emigrating to the US in a couple of weeks). I think I can pretty much name most people in that photo including the teacher! How nuts is that?

Top from the left: Paul (Rosco) Ross, Miss Ritchie, John Murray, Colin Ruddie, Mhairi Macleod, ? ?, Dorothy Watson?, Angela Campbell, ? ?, Julie Horsburgh.

Middle from left: Tony Armour, Colin Swanson, David Francis, Richard Swinley, ? ?, Michelle Molloy, ? ?, Nicola Gray, Brian Leonard, James MacKean

Bottom from left: Matthew Walker, Peter Johnstone, Alan Ross, ? ?, Tracy Matheson, ? ?, Fiona Strang, James Guild.

Hello there Ewen. Well done for managing to name so many people! Takes you back doesn't it?!
I'm definitely the one in between Michelle Molloy and Nicola Gray. I think it's Sharon McCue in the top row, 6 from right.
I also remember Nadine Darling being in our class, do you think it's her in between Tracey and Fiona Strang?
Another two names I recall from our class were Elizabeth and George McCrindle. Maybe George is in the middle row with his sister either of the two girls above him?
Good luck in The States.

I'm fourth from the left, middle row. I've been in Edinburgh for about ten years now. Raymond Ross (was Simpson).
Added by Raymond Ross on 28 March 2006
Hi Mhairi and Raymond!
hmm, is it Raymond or is it Richard that's fourth from the left, in the middle row? I'm 99.99% sure it's Richard.
Now that I study the photo again I can see indeed that it's Sharon McCue top row and I should have guessed, Mhairi, that you would be stood with Nicola and Michelle! If I remember rightly you three were practically joined at the hip. What terrible hair-do's we had! Well, I know personally that MY hair was nice, shame there's no photographic proof to dispute that on this website! hehe! According to my mother I was ill with chicken pox at the time of the photo...mystery solved.
I remember, just, Nadine Darling but can't say for sure whether it is the girl between Tracey Matheson and Fiona Strang or if it's the girl next to Julie Horsburgh (top, second from the right). As for Elizabeth and George McCrindle...I've never heard of them in my life! LOL! Maybe they left before I recovered from the chicken pox!?

Hi it's sharon, thanks for putting this photo on, it's brilliant! I don't have it so it was great to see and I think I can add in the missing names. Sheryl Johnston is next to me in the middle of the back row, she moved to Fife. Christina Greehouse 2nd Right on the back row moved to Stornoway P6 or P7. Wasn't that John Anderson in the middle row on left of Michelle, and he had a sister called Caroline! The front row 4th from left was Claire Low who moved to Hamilton in P5 (I think).

Nice to see your name up there Ewen! If anyone wants a better copy, mail me at rickswinley@telkomsa.net and I'll rescan it. Had to reduce quality to meet the filesize requirements.

(This site would appreciate a better copy, if possible - Site Admin.)

Great to see this photo - I haven't got a copy of it so it was a nice surprise to see all the familiar faces..

Oh My God!! I don't think I've ever seen this photo! Don't think I could name half the people in it! What a blast from the past to see everyone in it! Hope everyone is well. Glad you're doing well Ewan. Good luck in the states!!

Mhairi let me know this photo was here - so lovely to see it. Although am still smarting a bit...before departing for sunnier climes, Richard Swinley promised Mhairi, Nicola jobs as air stewardesses on his plane when he became a pilot. Good job we've managed to keep ourselves busy in the meantime...!

Hello again, y'awl (hehe, I'm a yank now!). Wow Michelle, haven't seen or heard of you since primary school!
I've taken over to the States with me a photograph of my third year (I think) Academy picture. My significant other is going to take it to her work to have it scanned for me to post here. The Academy photo has the following people that are also in the above picture: Mhairi, Fiona, Sharon, Tracey, James Guild, Tony Armour, John Murray, Peter Johnstone, Mathew Walker, Alan Ross, Brian Leonard, Angela Campbell, Nicola Gray, Julie Horsburgh, Paul Ross, David Francis and Colin Swanson. I'm in it this time but of course Michelle, Raymond and Richard aren't.
Does anyone else have old school photos to share on this site?

Hey, just stumbled across this picture. I left Invergordon 20 years ago but still remember a lot of the faces, weird !!.
Ps, Ewen, where did the horrific sea cadets photo come from!!!
Added by Colin Ruddie on 02 November 2006
The girl fourth from the left in the front row looks like my sister Karen Dillon. She was born in Dec 1969 so this means this should be a photo of primary Four.

Hey everybody, it's (Rosco) or Paul Ross. One of my work mates from off-shore has seen this photo - it's now doing the rounds in the North Sea. There's a few faces I haven't seen in ages. Hope you enjoy the States Ewen. What a head of hair I've got - can't really miss me ha ha! I think the guys name was George, not John, Sharon.
