Invergordon Station, looking west

This photo of the tennis courts and station was taken in the Autumn of 1969, hence the snow on Ben Wyvis.

Comments:
One could predict a rise in interest in tennis with the new British Men's Number One tennis player being a young Scot.
This was a great place to chill out etc in the 60s and 70s.

What a shame that the tennis courts have been neglected over the years. The last time I was up home in Invergordon they just looked like a huge mess. Can the townsfolk not all get together and restore them to their glory? Think of the kids who could maybe use them, as I did as a youngster. (If they have been done up since my last visit, I apologise).

The tennis courts were ruined when they built the walls around them (and started to charge for using them!!). We used to spend hours every day there through the holidays when I was a teenager in the late 70s early 80s. We used to hate it when Wimbledon was on as loads of other kids used to come down to play and we would have to wait for 'turns' to play. I believe they are to be converted to a skate (board) park sometime this year, but knowing Invergordon, it may never happen, much to my teenage sons disappointment!! It will be safer than him skating on the now treacherous High Street.

Just an update - there has been a lot of hard work put in by the kids and some parents (me not included!!) to convert the front court in this picture into a skateboard park. Once it's complete I will try and remember to post a picture so you can compare old v's new!!
