If my memory serves me well I think I can fill in one or two names...........Back Row 2nd boy from the left, in between John Mackintosh and John Campbell, is Samuel Stewart. Middle Row, the girl on the end of the row on the right, next to Sheila Mackinnon, is Lyla Mauchlin. Front Row 3rd girl from the left in tartan kilt and tie is Dorothy Swanson. Front Row 5th girl from left is Margaret Clayton. Front Row girl (twin) on the left end is Linda Auchterlonie and girl (twin) on the right end is Leslie Auchterlonie. Hope this has been of some help!!!!!

Although I was not in this class I know quite a few in the picture, especially John Macintosh. He lived over the wall from me in the Ship Inn - his father was also a jeweller. John Campbell was of course Scotty Campbell's son (the bicycle shop on King St.). Donald Ross (Donty) lived next door to me at 4 Outram Street. Millie Mactaggert lived in the prefab on King St, her father was the goal-keeper for Invergordon football team in the 50s. Mary Campbell is John's sister. I remember something happening to her hair... Mary Russell lived next door to me on the other side at number 2 Outram Street. Sonny Macleod lived on the High Street next to Fowler the shoe maker... Nora Galloway lived on Shore Rd by Bernards Navy outfitters. Thanks Billy, this picture brings back lots of memories for me.

Fourth boy from the left in the rear row is big Joe Ross from Saltburn - nicknamed Jocus since ever I can remember...

Yes Anne, certainly looks like Dorothy Swanson and if it is, she married my cousin Roy Daniels. Dorothy still resides in Invergordon...

The 4th girl in on the left hand side sitting between Dorothy Swanson and Margaret Clayton is Helen ? ... I have also made comments on the surname of "Inkson" on your Primary 4 Class photograph, Billy; I think it is the same girl. Could Helen be Kerr Inkson's sister? Harry O'Neill may know, he commented on Kerr Inkson in another school photograph!!

Hi Anne. Yes, Helen is Kerr's sister...I think your sister Cathy was in my later classes.
Added by Harry O'Neill on 15 February 2006
Thanks Harry for the confirmation on the Inkson family. I haven't got a sister.....cannot think of any connection with anyone called Cathy.

Betty MacKenzie is 6th from the left on the front row.
Hello Michaela, good to see your name on site.
I knew both your parents. Yvonne and I stayed near each other in Outram Street and were very good friends. We still keep in touch at Christmas. Give them both my regards.

Andrew, Donnie Ross from Balintraid Pier was in school with me - see picture #357. We were 1 or 2 classes ahead of this one. Unless there were two Donnie Ross's, the one I knew had a sister Margaret...If Jocus is your dad, say hi for me if he remembers, thanks.

I can add that Joan Maclean my mother is on the middle row far right with the pig tails in her hair and not the girl on the far left.

Hello does anyone know if John Mackintosh was related to Betty Mackintosh who lived at the Ship Inn until approx 1944 when she moved to England aged 17 after her mother Isabella Mackintosh passed away?
Added by Kerry Hayes on 03 January 2016
Yes, John lived there in the Ship Inn then moved to Inverness I think. Think his father was a watchmaker or jeweller.

Hi I was looking at this photo and wondered who John Mackintosh mother was. Does anyone know?
Added by Kerry Hayes on 28 July 2016
Hi, Melvyn Forsyth is my father; lives in Belgium; my grand parents Jock and Sally Forsyth used to live on 35 Saltburn Road; have great memories from my frequent stays there!
