I never knew he was the Provost. He owned the hairdressers and barbers business on the High Street on the corner of Castle Road. I think he also owned the newsagent shop next to it. I can remember as a very small boy being brought in for my first haircut and imagining that the razor strops hanging in the shop were weapons for administring corporal punishment to boys who misbehaved while in the chair (which looked suspiciously like a dentists!).

I believe this is Mr Leslie, Provost before Jock Mackay, late 40s early 50s...

Bill Leslie's wife Elma now lives in Inverness. Although over 80 years old she is still a very good looking lady and is often in the city centre shopping.

I may be wrong but I believe the photograph is of Mr George, Elma Leslie's father. He owned the property mentioned above by Bill Geddes and when he retired Elma and Bill Leslie took over the business. He also had been the Provost.

Harry, Bill Leslie ran the paper shop next to the hairdressers. I remember him as a bit of a "smoothie". Always very smartly dressed with a fine quiff of hair. A very friendly man who used to make me think of actor Leslie Phillips...ding...dong....

Hi Bill, funny how some people remind one of actors. I thought this man reminded me of Clifton Webb (Mr Belvedere)...There was also an actor that looked like Mr Gabriel but can't think of his name.
