Castle Road and Fountain, Invergordon

A postcard of the view north at the High Street cross-roads.The date of the picture is unknown, but probably goes back to the late 1940s or early 1950s.

The fountain was moved after the 5th time some drunk ran into it and relocated down to the wee park at Shore St. before Rhinds bought Macphersons '54 - '56 maybe.

Macphersons was the SCWS for a lot of years before it was bought by Rhinds. Fraser MacLellan (Sophie) was the message boy there, when Bobby Mac was at Boyds, and I was at Macgregors.

Hi Gordie, I remember you used to deliver papers for my Dad (Jock's) on a Sunday. By the way, I work at Nigg Oil Terminal and, although Sophie is retired and living in Inverness, he still helps us out with Tanker duties on a part time basis .
