I wonder if Paul Grant was the same person that ran the bar at the Caley? Known as Paulo Grant..
Added by Harry O'Neill on 29 April 2005
Yes, the same Paulo Grant. I worked with him in the SMD Store behind the Royal Hotel in the late '60s when I was a student. He had finished working in the Caley and was working there with Jimmy Clark up until the SMD Hotels/Pubs etc were sold off to the private sector in 1972.

Does anyone know if the John Ross in the picture had a father called John Ross, and was he married to a Florence with a son John, Angus and daughter Florence?
Added by Pat Vickers nee Ross on 26 January 2006
Pat - this John Ross lived in High Street next to the Royal Hotel, if that helps at all.

The first man in the back row is my grandfather, Tommy MacKenzie, one of the founders of the Invergordon British Legion. My mother, his daughter, is in the school photo of 1931 -32. My Grandfather lived in Saltburn where he had a Shoemaker's shop. In later years he was a Postman and did his rounds by bicycle and eventually by van. He was always involved with sport, playing shinty as well as football. He also had several boats and was in the local rowing skiff team. Mr Lindsay was the Treasurer and was the Manager of the Labour Exchange. Mr Ross was a committee member - his daughter Annabel Ross is in picture #769.

Was Rod Corbett a baker? If so he was a first cousin of my father whose grandfather was John McDonald, a gamekeeper at Novar. Are there any relatives still living in Invergordon or Alness?
