Invergordon High Street, looking East

A postcard giving a view of the north side of the High Street which was probably taken in the 1970s, judging by the vintage of the cars. The Royal Hotel has gone but it is interesting to see the road markings for a bus stop on the right hand side.

Comments:
Regarding the bus stop road markings, there used to be a bus shelter there, right outside the Comm's front door.

Hi Kenny, they used to get on the bus in front of Mac's Cafe and where the men's shop used to be. Do the buses not run down the High Street still?

Ah! Macs cafe! Somehow it was never cool like a proper teen cafe should be. It did have a juke box in the '60s which had to be fed with 3 one pennies (Old currency) to play one of the 50 records (45 RPM) it held. It was possible to play records for nothing by pushing in the perspex at the side and prodding the levers with a pencil. I wonder how long it was before Mac discovered he was supplying free music?

Harry: The buses still run down the High Street. The stop is now outside the Bone Mill, and in the other direction outside the Royal Hotel (that is if the Royal Hotel was still there!).

Thanks Kenny.
