Hi Malcolm, can't remember what used to be on that corner. Is it across the road from Auchterlonie's ? the then Doctor..

Harry, I've added a 'Large Version' which shows this development but from Castle Road which hopefully answers your question. The property isn't on the corner, but a short way along Joss Street, almost opposite the first cottage on the north side of Joss Street.

Thanks Malcolm, this larger version shows corner of Auchterlonies house. Think where the new building is used to be back gardens. Looks very nice though.

There were a couple of garages in that area in the fifties/sixties, one building with at least two garages with big sliding doors. I am not certain whether it was on this site or the one next door behind Mackenzie the butchers. I seem to remember Donald Mackenzie the butcher trying to do up an old open top sports car in one of the garages.

Hi Graham, you are probably right, I just don't remember. I do remember that the back yards were large back there and had high stone walls. I remember the drop after climbing over to get at the apples..
You can see them in some of the aerial pictures on this site. Check picture #651.

This development was built by David Moir's daughter and her husband.

Sadly an intensely boring building. It echoes the much older warehouse building behind. (perhaps that was the intention?)
