Newmore Primary School 1939

This is an old school photo of Newmore Primary School, Invergordon taken in 1939. My mother Jane (Macdonald) Shivas is 10 years old (wearing a tie) back row far left standing beside the School Teacher. Sandy Macdonald, her brother is 8 years old sitting in the middle row 3rd from the right.

The Head Master is Mr. MacLennan and the Teacher is Ms. Graham.

My Mom recalls that WWII had just started and the Headmaster was called up shortly after the photo was taken. Then they heard that he was killed at war after crossing over to France the same time as the Seaforth Highlanders from Invergordon. She said it was very sad news.

We are hoping that someone may be able to identify the students in the picture.
