Buckie Clark

My Grandfather, Buckie Clark. Not sure what date this was taken.
I remember him selling lemonade from his cart when I was about 6 or 7 years old. (A picture of my Grandmother can be seen at picture #824.)

(The date of the picture is a guess - Site Admin.)

I remember Buckie on the small dustcart and then selling lemonade from his cart. He must have been a very fit man as the cart was kept in the old store on Shore Road near Ness Cottage and he went all over the town. I even remember our order, one bottle of Quencho, one plain and one orange and we always asked if we could have a glass and didn't help ourselves like today as that had to last the week.

Yes, Buckie was unforgettable with his lemonade cart. He used to whistle all the time he was pushing it!

What a treat to see this man once again after many years. There were 6 families living in the building on Outram Street: The Mellon's, The Russell's, The Dunn's, The Ross's, The Buckies (Clark's) and the Clark's on the end - all fine people.
I remember Buckie having a beard. You didn't see much of him once his day on the scaffy was over, he stayed in the house.
Thanks for the picture Neil, I have added it to my album...

Great picture, Neil. We lived next door to your grandparents for many years and they were a great couple.

Great picture although this must be the first time I've seen "Buckie" not wearing his flat cap and I can't help hearing his whistling as I look at this picture..very nostalgic this one..

Talking about the lemonade...who remembers Fred Cross who used to come round long before "Buckie" started doing the round?

I well remember Fred Cross delivering lemonade, we used to have three bottles a week and my favourite was always the Cream Soda.
I have a feeling that his lock up was somewhere behind Taylor's garage.

Duncan you beat me to it, was just going to ask if anyone remembered Freddy, he was the lemonade man before.

I remember Fred Cross, I think he always wore a beret type hat. Did he work on the coal lorry before the lemonade run?

No-one could ever forget Buckie. I used to hear him before he came into view so we were always ready with the money for the lemonade. A great Inverg stalwart. Very nostalgic.
