Grandad was a "Killer" in the Slaughter House in Invergordon, which was situated where Travis Perkins is now.

Hello Jackie, would I be right to think that your Granda lived below us in Joss Street back in the 40s/50s? He had a son called Bill who had a bad time in the Korean war I seem to remember. I remember visiting the slaughterhouse in 1956 and watched various animals being dispatched without a flinch (me that is, not the animals!). I dont think I could do that now!

Hi Bill, Gran and Grandad never lived in Joss Street, they were in Clyde Street or Shore Road, then Gordon Terrace. I know uncle Bill was in the Korean War and mentioned in Dispatches but beyond that is a mystery, he has never spoken about it. Do you know what happened?

I remember this gentleman, and like Bill watched, in my case him in particular at work from start to finish. Always referred to as the killer by my grandparents. I seem to still remember a Sandy Maclennan also.

Hi Jackie. I don't know what happened to Bill. I was very young at that time but I remember people commenting about how much he had changed....from being cheery and outgoing to quite sullen and reclusive. As far as I can recall he had some very traumatic experience when in Korea; it's possible he had spent time as a prisoner?

Sorry Jackie but you are slightly mixed up here. Your Gran and Granda (my uncle and Auntie) did stay in Joss Street exactly where Billy remembers. From Joss Street they moved to Gordon Terrace and then, after some years, down to Shore Road.

Well, I never knew they lived in Joss Street or 6 High Street for that matter. Another piece of the puzzle found, thank you. I was only 2 when I came to live in Scotland and only remember them being in 6 Gordon Terrace, then 7 King George Street. They then went back to 6 Gordon Terrace, then up behind your mum at Gordon Place and finally back to Shore Road where Gran died. Dad was born in Clyde Street and Bill was born in Shore Road.
